General Requirements for Submissions

Scholaris has a national and international audience within the academic and commercial spheres and as such is written and published for these readers. To this end submissions require standardisation and applicability for the target audiences. Please note that these criteria are comparable to other refereed publications.

The general guidelines include the following:

  • All submissions must be in English.
  • The submission must not exceed 6,500 words, this excludes footnotes and the reference lists. Manuscripts exceeding this word limit may require the revision of the submission into a two-part article.
  • The information provided in the submission must be presented in a coherent and integrated manner emphasising precision, clarity and economy.
  • The use of active voice should be made whenever appropriate.
  • Submissions must make use of British spelling. i.e. Honour NOT Honor.

The following information must be provided on the first page (title page) of your submission:

  • The Accounting or Finance sub-discipline that your submission represents. 
  • The title of your submission (not exceeding eight words).
  • The type of submission, for example an assignment, a piece of original research, a literature review or a critical evaluation.
  • The name of the Author (please note that to facilitate the single-blind refereed process, the author and co-authors names should not appear anywhere else on the submitted document, other than on the title page).
  • The names of Co-authors if applicable.
  • The university that you are enrolled with.
  • Your telephone and facsimile number.
  • Your e-mail address.
  • The specific author to whom all correspondence should be addressed.

The following information must be provided on the second page of your submission:

  • The title must be repeated on this page.
  • The abstract of 100 to 200 words is required.
  • Keywords or key phrases: 3 to 5 is required. These keywords should be representative of the principal topics of your submission.
  • Please categorise your submission under one of these categories:
      • Research Paper
      • Literature Review
      • General Review
      • A Critical Evaluation
      • Other Assignment
